    Test Optional Policy

At Saint Joseph's University, our students embrace broad perspectives and broad skills. We come together as a community to ensure that your unique gifts and talents are cultivated. Our admission team reviews your application to get to know you as a whole person. We take a look at more than just your academic achievements—we're interested in your personal qualities and contributions to the community, as well.

Since 2014, Saint Joseph’s University has offered a test optional policy in which students may choose whether they wish to include test scores for admission consideration. If you are not sure of your decision to include scores or not, you may update your decision within your SJU applicant portal no later than the application deadline. An admission counselor may be able to help you with your decision.

We understand that students may have experienced hardships over the last several months related to the coronavirus pandemic which may impact the ability to take standardized admission tests or take some courses as pass/fail. Saint Joseph’s University would like all applicants to understand that our admission counselors will continue to review applications in a holistic manner in an effort to know you as a whole person. If you have any extenuating circumstances, we encourage you to share details in your application or request an interview with your admission counselor.
